Fall Wreath (or centerpiece!) Design Team Project

Hello everybody! We're going down to Branson for a few days, so I thought I'd upload a November Tim Holtz Design Team project early before I go. This was sooooo much fun. The sun was my biggest problem and getting a picture without too many reflections on the leaves.

Two friends commented that it looks like a centerpiece....well why didn't I think of the that...of course it does. Thanks guys!

So, sit back, grab a cup of coffee, or tea for my friends across the pond, and we'll give it a go.

This is clear acrylic packaging from the MANY, MANY, Idea-ology pieces I order from Ranger (just can't throw it away.) I've use it from any number of things, and just cut off the outer edges. Here I used Tim's Alterations Tattered Leaves die to cut about 30-35 leaves.

Then I applied color using the Alcohol Inks Applicator with Felt to the backs. I used various fall colors, Sunshine Yellow, Terra Cotta, Lettuce, Pesto, Rust, and Cranberry to name a few, leaving patches uncovered.

Then use a permanent fine tipped marker to add the leaf veins on the front.

Heat the acrylic (the veins are absent here to show better how this curls) you'll see it start to bend. Take it and mold however you like as it hardens quickly. If you don't like the results....heat it again.

Then I applied Adirondack Metallic Paint Dabbers in Gold and Copper, plus Lettuce and Butterscotch Acrylic Dabbers to the back where the blank spots occur.

Turn them over, and this is what you get. You can use several colors on the same leaf, just keep experimenting until you get the results you like. Then apply some metallics to the front on the edges for some more contrast.

The results are always different!!!

I used a 6" round donut shaped piece of chipboard for the wreath base, and hot glue to adhere the leaves. (I've had this forever..no clue where it's from) Start at the center and build up and out leaving an open spot in the center. I punched holes at 10 and 2 for adding a ribbon to hang the piece.

The center ribbons were looped, tied around the 2 floral picks from Crafts Direct, and then the ends snipped. Use a piece of chipboard to cut a circle slightly larger than the wreath center. Punch a hole in the middle. (Should resemble another smaller donut shape.)

Thread the pick stems through the hole, then glue all this to the back of your wreath. Since the smaller CB is slightly larger than the hole of the big one...glue the edges. I used Ten Seconds Studio Appletini Green metal to cut the strips that were curled around a pen and hot glued into place. Scrunch them.

Whew...any questions...just email me. No worries!

Have a great weekend and Remember to Play - Create ART!

Fall is in the AIR!

This is a blast from the past. If you've read my blog, this little guy was on it before....last year. But the Grungeboard pattern was perfect. I drew a pattern on paper and worked with it until I got it the way I wanted it. The paper in the background is Margie's from the Girls Paperie. LOVE it!

Then I transferred it to the GB. Cut, Distress Inked and added an embossed leaf using Ten Seconds Studio metal with the Hitch Fastener. A Tea light fits perfectly inside. The back is stapled with one staple in the center.

Use some Grungepaper for the vine swirlies and make green with DI. These are great on the table in a group for Halloween or get started early for Thanksgiving. Just have some fun and use all those supplies you had to have!!!!

Rain, wind, and storms....even tornadoes were in the Midwest last night. Power outages all over, but we were lucky to only have a hanging flower (quite large) take off in the wind.

I have been having a great time working with a Configuration from Tim. These little jewels are too much fun. I heard Tim told people on the cruise not to "overthink" things with them. Ha! I've gotten ONE little compartment done and glued. "OVERTHINK" is my middle name.

But these are great for using up all those wonderful trinkets you've collected from flea markets or LSS, but had no ides what to do with them. I am having a ball! Get these when you see them....they will fly out of the stores! Got a couple of mine at Scrapaganza in Davenport.

I'm playing in the studio and reading a new Trilogy by Ken Follett-Fall of Giants. I love historical fiction. So interesting.
~
So, just keeping in touch. Get out the supplies and play.

Is That You Dorothy????

Just a little bit of "Little Bit." A cute shot of her in her Dorothy costume...she loves the Red Shoes. She's gone through at least 2 pairs of the Ruby Red Slippers.

This frame is made using Creative Imaginations papers and a few Distress Inks here and there. No tutorial....just some fun.

Busy day. Fun day. Used some new Dies from the Timinator , a borrowed term from Lori. Alcohol Inks and Paint Dabbers are so cool on Acrylic. Not done yet, but I'm sure to share soon.
Worked a bit in the garden putting the ornaments away. And swung in the swing with Erin.

Deb stopped by and we fixed Spaghetti with the kids. Just a delightful day.

Be good to each other. Stop and smell the Asters....that's about all that's left in the garden.

Lots of Water under the Mississippi Bridge

Since last we chatted, I've been to Galena, Davenport, Moline and back. Had a great visit with Sue from Sue's Ink and Stamp (absolutely LOVE her shop...you must go and visit) in Galena. Watched the boxes of goodies arrive as we spoke!!!! Scored some more Perfect Pearls Mists and some more Dies from Sizzix. She has tons of wonderful Ranger products, Sizzix, Stamps galore, and INKS...of course. And saw my dear friend Jan Ketza at her shop Galena Beads. She has more beads than you can possibly imagine and all the wonderful Vintaj pieces. Such a sweetheart, and that shop was really busy!!!! Hope you had a great weekend.

Got some brand new items at Scrapaganza, too. Loads of things came in the night before the class.......lots of hard to find TIM stuff. Papers, dies, tapes, the Configurations, and STAMPS! Yes, they have it all.....go before they're all gone! Thanks so much to the students and Kelli and Beth. A good time was had by all, and we got all our projects done. Thanks to Alisa and Michelle, too. Great staff. Forgot the camera in the car with Bill, but you will not believe how much new stuff they have in the shop. Just Go!

This is another pin I put together to wear to class. It has the Ten Seconds Studio metal and the Rosette Die with a Tattered Floral flower sprayed with Perfect Pearls Blue Smoke and an Accoutrement from Tim.

Here are the little lovelies as a group down on the Mississippi River levy before homecoming for a terrific photo opt. I just knew one of the girls was going to jump back and knock one of the guys into the fountain....luckily it didn't happen. Alex, my grandson, is the one on the far right.

Such gorgeous colors for the girls dresses, and of course the guys ties HAD to match. The hanging baskets on the riverfront were just perfect!

I like to help keep the LSS going. So for my part, I did some shopping, of course.
Remembering that is very important. I like Michael's and Hobby Lobby, but you can't get the early releases and great help with products like you do at you local Scrapbook/Stamp/Art stores. So SHOP!

This is Erin's project with Perfect Pearls Mists, the Rickety House Die and the Bats from Bewitching Hour.

Not to be outdone by Miss Emma, who wants you to notice that she's lost her FIRST tooth!!! Or is that just my imagination? She liked the Witch that had been texturized with the Texture Fade Cobwebs. And some black ink over the top. All papers are from Sweet Margie's collection at the Girls Paperie.
~
AND last but not least, Morton HS Marching band scored another GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP at Champaign Saturday....MORTON ROCKS! If you get a chance to see this show, you'll be moved to tears, I guarantee it. Simply Stunning.
~
Got some Configurations in Davenport............so the thoughts are running through my head, searching for ideas to decorate these fantastic little creations.

Have a great week!

Halloween Tag from Tim Design Team

Halloween is getting close, so get your stuff out and make some tags!!!!

Just a correction from the last post. The Ten Seconds Studio mold is a design from Magenta. Thanks Cheryl.

I've been saving this tag, hoping to get a better picture of the piece, to no avail. If you get the colors good, the sparkle is gone, and visa-versa. So you'll just have to use your imagination.

It's a Ranger Inkssentials Manila Tag with various Distress Inks to start with, Rusty Hinge- Dusty Concord- Black Soot, that's embossed with the Texture Fade folder Cobwebs. I then sprayed it with Perfect Pearls Mists, Perfect Copper and Kiwi.....can I just say....WOW! I LOVE these mists...a wayyyyyy cool product!!!

I lightly added the Black Soot DI to the embossed areas of the web for more contrast, then stamped the little spider from Hero Arts 3 times to fill space, and added Black Soot Distress Stickles.

Using Tim's Happy Halloween ticket stamp from Odds and Ends, I stamped on manila paper with purple ink, and embossed with clear Super Fine Detail powder. Then I sprayed the paper with Kiwi PP Mists. VERY cool when you see it in person, sparkly, getting a good picture is not easy.

I painted with a brush on the Ornate Plate using Alcohol Inks - Lettuce and Terra Cotta - until I got the level of color I was looking for.

The On the Fence die was used on heavy chipboard and Suze's Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel powders in Pearl, Black, and Bronze were added in layers. First coat with Pearl, and then sprinkle the other 2 colors in as you heat. It's a very cool look, I think! Add the fence and bookplate with foam squares. It picks up a blue hue in most pictures...this one shows how it's really more silver.

The Ornate On the Edge Die was punched for the bottom of the card. A reverse piece was cut from black cardstock and layered behind the tag. I edged with a Copper Kryon pen and added green rhinestones.

The piece of Chain Link was added to the Fragment Facet and Scared Pumpkin faces from Seasonal Paper Stash were glued with Glossy Accents to the back of the Facet. I liked the toggle on the chain for some reason, it looked menacing....so I added it to the chain.

Add some ribbon and you've got a fun tag for Halloween.

Have a great weekend. We'll be in Davenport, Ia for classes on Saturday at Scrapaganza, after a side trip up to Galena on Friday. Hopefully we'll get to LeClaire for some rummaging around on Main Street in the shops , too. Bill loves the Carmel Corn from up there.

Margie's - The Girl's Paperie and Ten Seconds Studio

Sweet Margie Romney gave me a stack of her FABULOUS papers at CHA. I love the really rich colors she has in all of them....with just a touch of vintage distress on some. Gorgeous stuff from the Girl's Paperie! This is from the Tinsel and Twigs collection.

I was also lucky enough to score some of Ten Seconds Studio's newest Kabuka molds there. The design is from Magenta.

Is is cool or what????

And I'd taken a class with Hero Arts there, soooooo I came away with some wonderful Christmas Stamps.

I used Tim's Texture Fade to emboss the main sheet with Dot Matrix. And of course, just a touch of Distress Inks here and there . The copper metallic paper is under the metal and I used mounting tape to raise it just a bit for dimension.

So dig out your metal, scrounge for some papers and just cover an empty box. You'll have it all ready to give a gift in at Christmas. This was a Fanny Mae box that needs to be replenished!

Have a great one!

Time in a Bottle Altered Book

I've had this little book for ages. It's from Zutter. I love little books and just haven't gotten around to it. So, here it is, finally, with some ephemera from Tim on it...... all OVER it. Follow all the links for product descriptions.

The paper is from Tim's Lost and Found paper stash.

Also used were Tim's Alterations - Tattered Florals, Texture Fades - Damask, and the circle from the Paper Rosette.

Suze Weinberg's Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel Brightz - Spruce Green.

A concoction of Distress Ink Aged Mahogany Re-Inker and Fired Brick, Perfect Pearls Perfect Gold, and water in a Mini Mister.

Ranger's Glossy Accents.

Metal is from Ten Seconds Studio - Barn Red.

And other bits of ephemera, tulle, ribbon, and wire.

So, I started with spraying the entire book, inside and out with the PP and Ink mixture. Then I added the papers to all the surfaces except the outside spine.

The Ruler Ribbon was glued to the spine, and the little silver drawer pulls were added. They had been painted with several different colors of Alcohol Inks to get the mottled look that I like. Let it run and puddle.

A number is added to the bottle with micro beads and wire wrapped and curled around the top.

The metal piece is cut using the Rosette die, then embossed with the Damask Texture Fade and crinkled up to add dimension. The clock is glued to the center.

The Film Strip is added, and the Spinners are embossed with the UTEE and layered with Gears and Foliage over the clock faces.

The black and gold material was cut using the Tattered Floral die. Tulle was gathered and tied through the Accoutrement Button.

The tiniest of Tim's Pictures were used with Glossy Accents in the Charm Clips. Copper Metallic Mixatives was painted onto the Charm with a brush. And Alcohol Ink was painted onto the Foliage pieces. Add Baubles, Word Stick, and Charms with Jump Rings.

I added Hitch Fasteners to the Clips, and layered the Foliage pieces to add interest.

Stamp and decorate the rest of the book and add pages to your liking.

Explore all the "stuff" you've collected and just have FUN!

Charm Clips and Miniature Pictures

Are these cute or what??????????????

These little pictures are from Tim's Lost and Found paper stash. They're the smallest of the set of old pictures.

I used a small circle punch to cut the picture and "urged" the picture into the center of the Charm Clip.

Add some Glossy Accents to one side on your Craft Sheet, and when dry, add it to the back. This is cool because a picture appears on both sides, so the Charm Clip is great on either side. The Charm Clips are from Tim Holtz @Ranger.

Have fun, make some of these, and I'll show you where to use them in a much larger project coming later. It's loaded with TIM stuff.

Stay Tuned.....tomorrow I'll show you the finished project and tutorial!

More fun with Tim and Ten Seconds Studio

Short post. Got some goodies from Tim the other day. One I had to play with right away.

This is the Paper Rosette using the Hot Pink Diamond from Ten Seconds Studio. I used the Damask Texture Fades folder to emboss the metal after I cut it out. And it worked great!

Layer up some Black Tulle and a Classic Accoutrement button....pretty simple and pretty cool.

Just another day in Paradise

It's been a REALLY busy weekend. First the Morton HS Marching Band, under the direction of my son, Jeff Neavor, came home from Mt. Prospect with Grand Champion honors in their first appearance in a Chicagoland competition. Whoo Hoo!! I've never seen a more dedicated and talented group of wonderful young people and assistants, than these kids and adults. The Band Parents are 2nd to none!!!!! Congrats to EVERYONE!! So proud of you!

Then just as dad walked in the door at 1:51AM, Emma decided she wanted to take another ride in an ambulance from my house....long story short. Bronchial Croup. She's OK now as you can see, but she'd just had eye surgery under her eye Thurs. so we were unsure why she couldn't breath. A small necessity.

So I called her house, they were at mine in 2 minutes, on the phone to 911, who sent a policeman in 1 minute, and EMTs in 3. Mom's a nurse so she could assess the situation immediately. WHAT A GROUP of outstanding 1st responders!!! You could not ask for anything more. Really!

And then Em was bouncing off the walls for several hours on the steroids to help her breath better, and just fine. So after I got a few hours of sleep, I let mom and dad sleep, and we did "Awt Pwodjects". This is all her design to send a thank you card a day after World Card Making Day to the "911 people" who came to help her. I helped to color, she did all the designing.

These are all the cute stamps from Unity Stamps , Itty Bitty line, that I got in Minnesota. You've just got to smile when you see them. So stinkin' cute. These are the bookmarkers she made for her mom and sister. All Emma's design. She pretty much know exactly what she wants. A little bling, a flower her, a couple of punched out striped hearts there. Simple and direct. She is "very good at making pumpkins and butterflies" she told me, so of course, she added her work to the bookmarkers. (smile)
~
So, count your blessings, and kiss your kids. Thank your Nurses, Teachers, and Public Servants of all kinds. Send them a card of thanks, or make them a bookmark.

Be Well!
