The Chemist Journal Page

Time for a Journal Page....trying for Simple again!

This is in the smaller Journal from Dylan Reaveley with Dylusion Sprays as the background color.

I used Tissue Tape-Laboratorie and stamp sets The Chemist, Artful Tools,  and Mixed Media from Tim Holtz.

I used a white Extra-Fine Poster Paint Sharpie pen to add different element symbols and highlights.

A 3D Articulated Santos Doll Shrine

I fell in LOVE with Kristin's Santos Shrines the minute I saw them!

She is brilliant!!!

Check them out and make one of these for yourself at:

I think the beauty of the Santos Dolls is their simplicity of design. I so admire anyone who does simplicity well. I tried....

In short, I painted all the pieces first, stamped them up with Archival Inks, and glued it together.

The Flaming Trinket Hearts are perfect to add to the base. One comes with the option to add it to the ball chain, and the other has the smaller Chub Heart Charm front added to the Winged Heart.

The Silver Heart Lock Charm and the Silver Fleur-de-lis are tinted gold with a Sharpie Pen.

And a bit of Inka Gold is smudged around the Hearts and Wings.

Paints are Fresco Paints from PaperArtsy.

I simply love her.

Know In Your Heart You Are Loved

I guess I'm back to my original favorite color combination.

When I started doing Mixed Media Collages I fell in love with Red, Brown, Cream and Black.

This lovely Valentine Lady is perfect for these colors.

This is made with the wonderful Articulate Dress Form Art Doll from
and her serene face from a Fairy Art Doll Head Paper Cut.

I added Tim Holtz Mini Stash Paper on the back with Glue-n-Seal Matt, and PaperArtsy Fresco Paints as base colors.

The Word Band is tinted Gold with a Sharpie Permanent Marker to go with the Antique Brass Heart with Holes Filigree, Winged Heart Charms and the Fleur-di-lis Crown.

CAREFULLY  cut in half and straightened-out the Crown. They are made out of very soft metal so you must be aware they can break easily.

The stamps are from Lynne Perrella LPC005 and LPC019 using Red and Black Archival Inks.

I love these colors and they were perfect for a Vintage Valentine Lady....can you tell I've been watching the Tudor's series lately???

Stencils and Tags

This year is going to be about Layering...

So what better place to start than on a Tag?!?!?

Lots of products here, just play with the layers.

I start with a #8 Manila Tag, GrungePaste and a Chevron Stencil.

Then I added layers of Distress Stains and Green Yellow Inka Gold.

I used Stamps with Archival Inks, White Paint, and a White Pen last. See the difference a white pen makes in the contrast on the Typewriter!!!

Add a Trim to the top, layer it onto Black Chipboard and add 3 Wooden Buttons to give a bit of interest.

Simple, Simple, Simple.....my word for the Year!

Check out the links below for supplies. Most can be found at Inspiration Emporium where  you can use my iecain81 code  for 10% off your order!

Be Still My Beating Steampunk Heart!

Can you believe....Valentines and Steampunk???

Perfect!!!

Then throw in  Retro Cafe Art Gallery  ingredients, and it's just too much fun!

Kristin really out-did herself here with this awesome design. I LOVE it!

Her brilliance is so popular,  people love to use her ideas.....hmmmm.

This comes in 2 pieces. The bottom piece was painted with London Bus and Blood Orange Fresco Paints from PaperArtsy.

The top layer is Bora Bora, South Pacific, Autumn Fire, Cinnamon and London Bus.

I used Little Black Dress to "dull" the faux silver watch piece.

Black and Red Archival Ink were used to stamp layers of images.

And the last layer has many RCAG pieces and an image of a turn-of-the-century Gentleman.

The Ornate Keyhole and 2 Swivel Clasps create the top with 2 vintage brass eyelets.

Check out the links and get going. This was really, really, fun!

Simple Tags

I've decided to go with "Simple Tags" this year, with simple posts.

Who has time to really read all the blogs out there? Who just looks at the pictures and moves on?

Just wondering. I know I am pressed for time....

This is a #8 tag with a stencil and Grunge Paste added. Then several layers of Distress Inks and some Copper Inka Gold.

The final layer is stamped images. Then I use a piece of plain chipboard to mount it on with a Tarnished Brass Distress Paint edge.

I sanded and buffed certain areas then layered two words onto manila cardstock I'd colored with Distress Inks.

I really like how the Copper shows up on the stenciling, and the sanding creates a brighter color around the Chicken Wire Stenciled areas.

Bracing for the severe Winter temperatures here tomorrow and just watching it snow today....time to Create Art!

Sweetheart Fairies from Retro Cafe Art

The New Year here and we're going to start with some fun Sweetheart Fairies to decorate, collect, or swap.

More info on the Swap can be found here. You have plenty of time to return them by February 24th.

These are a few of the little darlings I made in the last couple of days.

Some are fun and quirky.

(the bottom piece on the right Fairy is scrap Masonite from a Label Pull Style Frame Cut Out.)

Some are more serious, but colorful. Here I used the Small Heart Tree Stencil.

This shows a few steps into the creation with base-coating, stenciling, stamping, and embossed metal added to the Masonite Fairy.

The small heart is left over from the Stand Up Hearts and Hand.

I use several colors of Fresco Paint added with foam squares for the back.

Here you can see the embossed metal, Stickles, and white Rubons.

The embellishments are added last.

A signature and additional stamping adorn the back.....

....so check out the links below and enter the Swap or just create some for yourself.

Hoping your New Year brings you Joy,

Linda
